Rep. Peters’ Statement on Video Showing Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl Alive
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Scott Peters (CA-52) released the following statement after hearing reports that new video showing Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl alive has been obtained by the United States Military. Rep. Peters has worked to raise attention to Sgt. Bergdahl’s captivity by introducing a resolution in Congress calling for continued efforts to ensure Bergdahl’s safe return, in local television interviews, and in a press conference with San Diego veterans earlier this year.
“News that Bowe is alive is an answer to the prayers of many caring people and veterans across the country who are holding out hope for his safe return. Mostly, it must mean more to his family than any of us can imagine. As I have said before, this is a complex situation but I will continue to push the Pentagon and the Administration to keep it as a priority. I am happy to hear that he is alive, but we cannot rest until he is brought home safely.”
