Internships

All internships in Rep. Scott Peters' office are paid and run throughout the Fall, Spring, or Summer semesters. Internships in both the Washington, D.C., and San Diego offices are open to college and graduate students. The hours are flexible to accommodate students' course schedules, but generally run Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

  • Spring internships in DC: November 22, 2024 at 11:59 PM ET
  • Spring internships in San Diego: December 13, 2024 at 11:59 PM PT
  • Summer internships in DC: March 29 at 11:59 PM ET
  • Summer internships in San Diego: April 1 at 11:59 PT
  • Fall internships: August 20

Internship Descriptions

In our Washington, DC office, we offer paid internships for Fall, Spring, and Summer. Interns are paid $16.85 an hour. Hours may be flexible to accommodate students’ availabilities.

In San Diego, we offer paid internships every quarter. Interns are paid $16.85 per hour and work 15 hours per week for 10 weeks, depending on  availability.

Washington, D.C., Legislative Internship

In Washington, D.C., interns' responsibilities will include conducting legislative research, drafting memos, assisting with front office duties, and performing basic administrative tasks. Interns will learn about the legislative process and the many other functions of a Congressional office. Internship candidates should be prepared to work a minimum of 10 hours per week.

Communications Internship

Communications interns work in D.C. alongside our communications team. Primary responsibilities include: creating social media content and graphics; drafting press releases and talking points; planning press events; cutting and editing videos; organizing and tracking photos; compiling press clips and tracking coverage.

Candidates must have strong writing and social media skills and demonstrate sound political instincts. Please include social media or graphics samples with your application.

San Diego District Office Internships

San Diego District Office interns may be asked to do a variety of things, including day-to-day office work, such as answering phones, writing letters, and responding to constituent inquiries. Interns may also assist with constituent casework and District-based projects of importance, with plenty of opportunities for community outreach and engagement.
