April 15, 2022

Today, the Christian and Jewish communities celebrate very special holidays with Good Friday and the beginning of Passover. I am thankful that the individuals and families I represent may gather to mark these holy events with their loved ones after two years of COVID-related restrictions. Please continue to stay safe and I wish you all a joyful and special end to Holy Week.

Below is another update on the work my staff and I have done recently to serve you.

This Week's Casework Success Story

Nathalie from Rancho Peñasquitos contacted my office at the end of January to request assistance with the IRS. She received a notice for being late with her taxes even though she had requested an extension. My staff worked with Nathalie to gather documents showing proof of an extension approval from the IRS. We also submitted a requested for the penalties and fees to be reversed. A couple of weeks ago, instead of having to pay $1,047.52 in penalties, Nathalie and her husband received a refund for $114.54.

Planning Ahead for Travel This Summer

If you are planning on traveling internationally this summer, my office urges you to plan ahead! For routine passport processing, you might wait 8-11 weeks or 5-7 weeks for expedited processing. Waiting times start from the date the State Department receives your application. My office may be able to assist in very limited situations. Please be advised that emergency passport appointments are extremely limited and reserved for those in true emergency situations. Click here to learn more.
