WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Rep. Scott Peters (CA-52) released a statement following President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s address to the U.S. Congress:

“President Zelenskyy’s courage and commitment to his people and the future of Ukraine are exemplary. His sobering call to action reminded us that Americans have faced great sacrifice and challenge throughout our nation’s history – we know what it is like to have our country under attack. He also reminded us that our American spirit evolved from our dedication to freedom and the right to sovereignty, something that Ukraine is currently fighting fervently to protect.

“The United States, in coordination with its allies and partners, must stay the course and find other methods to impose costs on Russia. I agree with President Biden’s remarks today that America must continue to provide anti-armor and anti-personnel capabilities, ammunition and medical supplies like those the administration has already delivered to Ukraine. I also believe we must consider sending more advanced anti-air capabilities and aircraft, as well. If that means providing MiG fighter jets, man-portable air defense systems, and S-300 air defense platforms, then let’s do it. I stand firmly with Ukraine and will work to ensure that sustained military and humanitarian aid reaches Ukrainians on the frontlines as Russia continues its egregious incursion.”
