Congressman Peters Thanks San Diego City Council for Supporting SUPER Act

SAN DIEGO, CA – Today, Congressman Scott Peters (CA-52) released the following statement after the San Diego City Council passed a resolution, on a unanimous vote, demonstrating the support of the City for HR 1943, the Super Pollutant Emissions Reduction (SUPER) Act, which he introduced on May 9th. The research of a local scientist, Dr. V. Ramanathan of UCSD, helped inspire Congressman Peters to take action on super pollutants. The bill is aimed at combating some of the most significant drivers of global climate change without changing our nation’s energy infrastructure.

“I want to thank the San Diego City Council for their resolution supporting this important legislation – in particular Councilman Alvarez for bringing the resolution to the Natural Resources Committee and helping shepherd it to passage. San Diego has been a leader on climate change issues in the past with our Climate Action Plan. It is time that we start working as a country to address the root causes of changing climate patterns. Further, because our region will be acutely harmed by changing climate patterns and sea level rise, I am glad to have the leadership and support of the City of San Diego as I push for passage of the bill in Congress.”
