Removing transgender servicemembers from our military solely because of their identity is wrong and a disgrace. The United States has an all-volunteer military and every servicemember, including transgender servicemembers, have demonstrated their commitment to serving the United States and displayed heroism, sacrifice, and courage. Removing thousands of servicemembers severly weakens our national security and readiness for war. It will take years and billions of dollars to replace their level of experience and expertise. At a time when Donald Trump wants to eliminate waste in our government, this would be a huge waste of taxpayer resources. An inclusive and diverse military benefits every American and the United States must be a beacon for human rights. I fought Trump’s transgender military ban in 2017 and I will use every tool available to me to fight back against this hateful policy once again.
