Rep. Peters Statement Following Failure of Partisan Farm Bill: Bipartisanship Key to Enduring Legislation
May 18, 2018
Today, U.S. Congressman Scott Peters (CA-52) released the following statement after the partisan Farm Bill failed to pass the House:
“The Farm Bill is classic proof of why enduring legislation has to be bipartisan. Any sincere effort to reach out to Democrats would’ve resulted in a bill that easily could have had 300 votes. This is such a break from tradition, and really demonstrates the failure of Republicans and Paul Ryan in particular. Both parties have to ask for bipartisanship from their own leaders.”
