Rep. Peters Votes to Restore Veterans’ Benefits
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Scott Peters (CA-52) released the following statement after voting ‘Yea’ on S. 25, which would end the cuts to military-retiree Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) cuts that were part of the recent bipartisan budget agreement, which Congress passed in December.
“I voted to end the unfair cuts to the military-retiree COLAs today because America must keep its promise to our veterans. I have been pushing for this change since the cuts were included in last December’s budget agreement. My preferred method to pay for this fix was to close tax loopholes that are being exploited by corporations that incorporate in overseas tax havens but operate in the United States, however our nation’s veterans deserve the benefits that they earned and today’s legislation honors that commitment.”
