Congressman Peters’ Statement on Veterans’ Day
SAN DIEGO, CA – Today, Congressman Scott Peters (CA-52) released the following statement in his observance of Veterans’ Day:
“Today we honor the sacrifice of the men and women who have served this country protecting and preserving our rights and freedoms. Let’s come together as a San Diego community to show our gratitude to their service, commitment, and leadership. We must also recognize the families that have supported our veterans during their service and following their return to civilian life. I will continue to be a steadfast advocate in Congress for San Diego’s veterans and their families.”
Rep. Peters has been a consistent advocate for veterans as a member of the House Armed Services Committee, and by helping veterans receive due benefits and transition to civilian life. To date, his San Diego office has helped local veterans and their families obtain more than $400,000 in backlogged earned benefits. Earlier this year, he helped launch San Diego’s Military Transition Support Project, a collaborative community effort to help the transition of recently discharged veterans into civilian life and employment.
