Rep. Peters Votes to Prohibit Internet Access Taxation

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Scott Peters (CA-52) released the following statement after helping to pass H.R. 3086, the “Permanent Internet Tax Freedom Act,” which would make the current moratorium on state and local taxation of internet access permanent:

“Expanding access to the internet for every American must be a priority for Congress. Keeping government out of the way by permanently prohibiting taxation of internet access protects this vital tool for people across the country. The internet is the portal to learning, business, and information in both urban and rural communities, and it must be kept open for all.”

Rep. Peters is also a cosponsor of the legislation.
