San Diego Congressmembers: GOP SAVE Act Will Disenfranchise American Voters
San Diego, CA — Today, Representatives Scott Peters (CA-50), Mike Levin (CA-49), Sara Jacobs (CA-51), and University of San Diego Professor Carl Luna discussed how the “SAVE America Act” would disenfranchise San Diego voters. All three Members of Congress voted against the legislation on February 11.
“The Republican SAVE America Act is a bad solution in search of a problem that doesn’t exist,” said Rep. Scott Peters. “The Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank, found that cases of voter fraud were less than one percent of votes cast. They analyzed hundreds of millions of votes cast in several swing states over multiple decades and found less than 100 cases of voter fraud per state. Since 1982, California has had a total of 70 cases of voter fraud. The Senate must reject this undemocratic and un-American attempt at voter suppression.”
