  September 16, 2022

This week, I returned to Congress ready to get to work on the issues important to San Diegans. We voted on several government reform and Veteran Affairs bills. On Tuesday, I attended the White House ceremony to acknowledge passage of the Inflation Reduction Act. Also, I provided remarks at the Future of Health Data Summit on Thursday. Lastly, I want to make you aware that our office is hosting a "Service Academy & ROTC Information Night" on Monday, September 26, 2022. See below for more information.

This Week's Casework Success Story

Debbie, a long-time constituent, who had been struggling to find affordable housing for the past three years, finally secured a safe and affordable unit. After years of searching for somewhere to live with her housing choice voucher, our district staff stepped in to assist. They were able to direct Debbie's case to the appropriate caseworker at the San Diego Housing Commission, where she was finally able to secure housing. Debbie has received her keys to move in this weekend.

White House Celebration of the Inflation Reduction Act

Along with other members of the San Diego delegation, I attended the White House celebration of the Inflation Reduction Act's passage. This event marked a decisive step in the right direction to lower health care costs and prescription drugs. We will keep building on this progress to help Americans and San Diegans with the rising cost of living.

Health Data Summit

On Thursday, I provided opening remarks at Health Data Summit held here in Washington, D.C. The event hosted a small group of policy, academic, nonprofit, and industry leaders that discussed the future of health data through a mix of panels, fireside chats, and networking sessions. Specifically, the summit focused on the future of health data relating to real world evidence, value-based care, interoperability, and privacy.

Home Depot Aprons on the Hill Luncheon

Also on Thursday, I stopped by to hello to the folks from Home Depot. I provided brief remarks on the importance of constituent engagement with members of Congress. I applauded the efforts they made throughout the pandemic, and their willingness to stay open to ensure that communities across the country had access to essential products.
