Rep. Peters’ Statement on Pure Water Program Passing San Diego City Council

WASHINGTON, D.C. – This morning, U.S. Congressman Scott Peters (CA-52) released the following statement regarding the passage of the Pure Water San Diego program in the San Diego City Council on a unanimous, bipartisan vote:

“Yesterday’s actions by the San Diego City Council are a huge step in the right direction as we adapt to the prolonged drought and work to diversify our community’s water supply. Safely recycling wastewater into drinking water is not just the environmentally-friendly thing to do, but makes financial sense as we become less reliant on imported supplies.

“This project has been a long time coming, and I am proud to have been involved in past years on the City Council to push it toward completion. I want to congratulate Council President Gloria and Mayor Faulconer for their work to move this toward the finish line.”
