Rep. Peters Helps Improve, Increases Access to Quality Healthcare for Seniors
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Congressman Scott Peters (CA-52) helped pass four measures that will improve the quality of Medicare Advantage and increase access for seniors to the popular healthcare plans.
Rep. Peters has actively, and successfully, fought past efforts to cut Medicare Advantage in 2014 and again this year.
“These bills will help ensure that Medicare Advantage continues to be a viable program for seniors,” Rep. Peters said. “Our seniors depend on Medicare and have earned it over a lifetime of hard work; it provides preventative care that leads to better lives for San Diego seniors and helps reduce health care costs in the long run.”
The four bills Congressman Peters helped pass today are listed below:
- H.R. 2505 – the Medicare Advantage Coverage Transparency Act, which improves reporting about seniors using Medicare Advantage to more accurately target care.
- H.R. 2507 – the Increasing Regulatory Fairness Act, which will allow providers, stakeholders, and consumers extended time to give constructive feedback regarding potential Medicare Advantage rates.
- H.R. 2582 – the Securing Seniors’ Health Care Act, which will allow seniors to continue to choose and keep Medicare Advantage plans that work for them, even as standards of care are raised.
- H.R. 2570 – the Strengthening Medicare Advantage through Innovation and Transparency for Seniors Act, which will reduce the costs to the government of the program by incentivizing preventative treatments for seniors.
