Can Congressman Peters help me?

If you have issues such as obtaining your tax refund, identity theft, unpaid tax bills, or threats of tax liens, our office might be able to assist you. As we address your concerns, please bear in mind that we cannot force an agency to act in your favor.  The rules of the U.S. House of Representatives do not allow us to intervene in, or influence the outcome of, cases that are under the jurisdiction of any court.  Finally, our office cannot intervene in matters under the jurisdiction of local, state, or foreign governments.

We can help you:

  • Assist with obtaining your federal tax refund
  • Request correction / obtain clarification of incorrect statements
  • Facilitate communication with the IRS to resolve matters involving repayment plans for which you may qualify

We cannot:

  • Get involved in legal matters and matters before the jurisdictions of any courts
  • Overturn an IRS decision or force the IRS to take a specific action on your behalf
