Rep. Peters Nominates Two Coronado Students To Military Academies
February 8, 2016
On Saturday, U.S. Congressman Scott Peters (CA-52) honored 32 high school students from his district that he nominated to the U.S. military service academies for the Class of 2020. Michael Larratt of Coronado High School was nominated to the United States Naval Academy. Joshua Leaser of Coronado High School was nominated to the United States Air Force Academy.
“The opportunity to nominate students to our nation’s military academies is one of the most rewarding duties I have as a member of Congress,” Congressman Peters said. “These students have already earned a reputation as young leaders in San Diego, and now they represent the future leaders of our Armed Forces.”
The outstanding students were selected after applying and interviewing with Congressman Peters’ independent Service Academy Nomination Board. The board is made up of 7 respected members of the community including college counselors and former military officers. This year, 10 students from the 52nd district were nominated to the United States Naval Academy, 10 to the United States Air Force Academy, 9 to the United States Military Academy (West Point), and 5 to the United States Merchant Marine Academy.
