Support Student Loan Payments

Scott co-led the Employer Participation in Repayment Act to extend the tax-exempt employer student loan repayment benefit he originally authored almost a decade ago. The 2025 reconciliation law made the tax-free benefit permanent and indexed it to inflation.

Expand Childcare for Law Enforcement

San Diego is home to a first-of-its-kind local law enforcement childcare facility which opened in 2024. To expand facilities like this nationwide, Scott led the Providing Child Care for Police Officers Act, a bipartisan bill to address the nation’s police shortage and making childcare better accessible and affordable. Law enforcement has struggled to retain officers, due to the high-demand nature of the job. This bill works to mitigate these obstacles many law enforcement officers are faced with while supporting their services.

Help Americans Save for Retirement

Scott led the Saving for the Future Act, supporting a universal personal savings program mandating the appropriate employers to make hourly contributions for their employees. Additionally, this legislation increases both individual income and corporate income tax rates.

Limit Noncompete Agreements

Scott led the Workforce Mobility Act, a bill to limit employers' ability to force employees to sign noncompete agreements except in certain cases. A noncompete agreement is a legal agreement between an employer and an employee that prohibits an employee from working for a competing company after the employment period is over, often for a specified period. He has previously led this bill in 2023, 2021, and 2020.
