Washington, D.C. — Today, Representative Scott Peters (CA-50) released the following statement after the vote to impeach Department of Homeland Security Secretary, Alejandro Mayorkas:

“House Republicans would rather impeach the cabinet secretary who’s trying to fix the problems at the border than enact a real solution. They’re all show and no substance. The Senate produced a bipartisan national security and border policy bill as was demanded by Republicans and is supported by border patrol agents who say it is ‘far better than the current status quo.’ Yet, when Donald Trump told Republicans to kill the Senate’s bipartisan border fixes so he could have it as an election issue, congressional Republicans fell in line. They should be ashamed”
