Rep. Scott Peters Issues Statement on Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s and House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer’s Decision to not Seek Leadership Reelection
November 16, 2022
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Rep. Scott Peters (CA-52) issued the following statement regarding Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s and House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer’s decision to not seek leadership reelection:
“I thank Speaker Pelosi for her many years of public service, commitment to our country, and her unwavering devotion to California. It has been an honor to serve with her over these many years. Her achievements and steadfast leadership will surely be missed as Speaker of the House. We in the House, and the country, are fortunate that she will continue to serve and offer guidance as we transition to new leadership. As a fellow California member of Congress, I look forward to continuing our work together in the House of Representatives. I wish her, Paul, and her family well as they embark on this new chapter.
“Also today, House Majority Leader Hoyer announced his decision to not seek leadership reelection as well. He has set a standard for me in how a member of Congress should comport himself. I’m pleased he will continue his service as Maryland’s 5th District Representative; his decision to continue his work in Congress will be a benefit to Democrats and the upcoming 118th Congress.
“With these leadership changes in Congress, we must now work even harder for the American people to ensure that we are delivering on the things they need most from their elected representatives.”
