UT – Peters gets top conservation score
February 27, 2014
Reps. Scott Peters received perfect marks for his 2013 voting record from the League of Conservation Voters.
The league’s scorecard uses a 0 to 100 percent range, with the San Diego Democrat the only member of the local delegation at the very top end. At the very bottom, with a 0 score, is Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Vista.
Rep. Susan Davis, D-San Diego, got 96 percent, while Rep. Juan Vargas, D-San Diego, came in at 89 percent.
Alpine Republican Rep. Duncan Hunter was given a score of just 4 percent.
The ratings were based on more than 20 votes the D.C.-based group considered key environmental legislation or appointees. The League of Conservation Voters was founded in 1969 as an advocacy group for pro-environmental policies and candidates.
The average House member score was 43 percent.
