Joined @sdbizchamber to honor San Diego public safety officers for their heroic efforts this year. Each one of these brave officers saved a life. Thank you to these heroes who put their lives on the line every day to keep us safe.
Today we remember the thousands of lives lost and the millions forever changed by the 9/11 attacks. We thank the heroic first responders, service members, and intelligence officers, who kept us safe. We honor the lives lost and the American spirit that helped us overcome tragedy. #NeverForget
Honored to be named a 2018 Beer Champion by the @beerinstitute. San Diego is proud to be the Craft Beer Capital of America. Our thriving brewing industry is helping to grow our economy by creating jobs here at home and going global to reach new markets. #SDBeer
Celebrated the grand opening of PedEast-- San Ysidro Port of Entry's new pedestrian building, which will effectively double intake capacity. It builds on other modernizations that have already reduced wait times and shows what we can accomplish when we work together. It's the kind of investment we should be making at the border.
Visited Shield AI headquarters in Downtown San Diego where their state-of-the art technology is helping protect both soldiers and civilians. Our interconnected tech and defense clusters are often a catalyst for innovation that can be applied across multiple industries.
Our seniors depend on Medicare and earned it over a lifetime of work. Honored to receive the 2018 Champion for Healthy Seniors Award. We'll keep working to ensure seniors have access to quality care that enables them to live better lives.
Joined Meggitt to celebrate their expansion in Sorrento Valley, which will help keep more of our servicemembers safe and create jobs here in San Diego. Their innovation is an example of why the military continues to invest in San Diego.
Joined Clairemont for their annual Family Day this weekend. It's always great to meet and hear from San Diegans-- especially at community events.
Happy @comic_con, San Diego! #SDCC18
Visited Job Options, Inc. in Mission Valley, which empowers people with disabilities to join our workforce. They connect San Diegans with jobs through AbilityOne, a federal program that helps individuals develop skills they can use in other public and private sector jobs.
Welcomed our 2018 Art Competition Winner Emily, of Canyon Crest Academy, to DC last week. Her acrylic painting, “Kaitlyn,” will hang in the U.S. Capitol for the next year. Visit us in DC to see her artwork in person. #SDinDC
Visited @feedingsandiego’s food pantry at Dewey Elementary School in Point Loma. About 70 percent of the students are from military families and rely on the pantry for meals. We need to protect programs that help address the meal gap in our communities.
