Today we announced our #PollutionSollution bill package to protect public health, the environment, and quality of life for San Diego residents. Combined, our bills address the sewage spills that have plagued the San Diego region for too long.
I led Dem Policy Group this week where we welcomed former Secretary of Energy, Ernest Moniz to discuss carbon capture technology and advanced nuclear energy. Both are key to an all of the above strategy to stop climate change. #ActOnClimate
🚨 The Trump Administration is threatening to launch ICE raids this weekend to target and separate immigrant families. It's important you know your rights. #KnowYourRights
San Diego is a proud military town, strengthened by our servicemen and women and our strategic role in the national defense. It's an honor to preside as Speaker Pro Tempore during debate of the FY2020 National Defense Authorization Act.
Met with fellows from @lcvoters—including students from @dukeuniversity, my alma mater—to discuss our work to curb climate change and why bipartisanship is key to lasting policy.
Met with EPA Region 9 Administrator Stoker to discuss solutions to the ongoing Tijuana River sewage spills in advance of the joint study by EPA and NADBANK. We're working to ensure they prioritize projects that can help stop spills in the San Diego region.
Spent Independence Day with @usairforce troops serving abroad at Al Udeid Air Base. Thank you to our men and women in uniform who fight for our freedom every single day. 🇺🇸
We joined VVSD for the third annual Stand Down event to share how our office can help veterans access the benefits they earned through their service. San Diego veterans can visit our website to learn more about how we can help.
We welcomed, Pallavi, our 2019 Art Competition winner to D.C. this week. Pallavi's painting, "At the Community Garden," will hang in the Capitol for one year alongside submissions from students across the country. Be sure to stop by the exhibit if you visit this year. #SDinDC
Visited @swinertonrenewable HQ, where they're deploying utility-scale solar across the country. We saw their control room, which monitors Swinerton solar and renewable energy project output of their systems. I spoke with employees to share what we're working on in Congress.
Members of @thenewchildrensmuseum were in D.C. to accept the @us_imls National Medal for Museum and Library Service and joined me for a night tour of the Capitol. #SDinDC
#WeWearOrange to honor victims of gun violence and stand with survivors. It's been more than 100 days since the House passed #HR8, the Bipartisan Background Checks Act. Leader McConnell: It's your turn to honor these victims with action. #EndGunViolence
