Today, Rep. Scott Peters (CA-52) released this statement following the passing of Chairman Elijah Cummings:

“Chairman Elijah Cummings was deeply committed to his city and country. His decades-long activism and community service in the fight for civil rights and justice inspire us all to be equally convicted in our quest for a more perfect union. He was a patriot and hero whose mark is left throughout our nation’s history. My heart and prayers are with his family and loved ones. May he rest in power.”
