Energy and Natural Resources
Co-Sponsors: 9 – 6 Democrats, 2 Republicans, 1 Independent

The Promoting Grid Storage Act of 2019 would divide $1.05 billion in authorized funding over five years to boost research and development of cutting-edge technologies to increase energy storage capabilities for America’s electric grid and enable the expanded use of clean energy. To do this, this bill aims to improve coordination and collaboration of the Department of Energy (DOE) energy storage research efforts, fund DOE grants to assist and boost public and private entities wishing to expand their energy storage capabilities and provide grants for pilot storage systems with a goal of moving promising energy-storage technologies from the laboratory to wide-scale deployment.

This bill addresses Green New Deal goal 2(B)p.7 to update infrastructure in the United States and 2(C)p.7 to develop new clean power capacity.
This bill addresses Green Real Deal goal 2(D)p.5 to modernize electric grids.
